Historic Tower CaféThe fire tower of the former Pearl Mill, dating from 1893, is now the home to the cozy Historic Tower Café. Fully renovated, guests enjoy the ambiance of the tower as the site of the daily continental breakfast or as a location for small private events and wedding parties. The red-brick structure with its spiral staircase displays historic photographs of the former Duke-family-owned cotton mill when tobacco and textiles were key industries in Durham. Visitors love the historic aerial views of west Durham and the comparison to current places of interest. When the Pearl Mill was torn down, the fire tower and beautiful chimney were preserved. Duke Tower was built on the site using bricks from the factory, an early example of industrial recycling. Continental BreakfastThe Historic Tower Café offers a daily all-you-can-eat continental breakfast for a small fee, an alternative for guests who prefer not to cook or don’t have time to go out for breakfast. The menu includes:
$5.00 for adults; $2.50 for children under 12
